Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme
Rural homes and small to medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in Cumbria can now benefit from the fastest and most reliable broadband connectivity if they choose a gigabit-capable service as part of a group project.
Cumbria County Council is investing £2 million to ‘top up’ the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme. The council will pay up to an additional £1,500 per home and £3,500 per small and medium-sized business in order to help connect harder-to-reach groups of rural premises which currently are not able to access broadband services of at least 30Mbps.
Group projects are when two or more homes or businesses get together to combine their vouchers towards the cost of connections.
No separate application is required as eligible premises will receive funding from the Cumbria top-up to the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme when benefitting from a Gigabit Broadband Voucher scheme through a registered supplier.
